Tuesday was the first day of open enrollment in Maine’s Health Insurance Marketplace.

Maine’s DHHS says people can enroll at CoverME.gov. This year, residents can take advantage of additional federal financial assistance.

In 2022, more than 80 percent of people shopping at CoverME.gov qualified for help paying for health insurance.

The enrollment period ends on January 15, 2023.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says Americans will save an average of $800 a year on health insurance in 2023. That’s due to a 3-year extension of additional assistance under the American Rescue Plan Act.
