Orland Fire Victim Identified

Orland, ME  (WGAN)   The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the man who died when his house in Orland caught fire Monday is 40 year old Sam Crawford.

Investigators said the fire started in the attached garage of the house shortly after a space heater was  turned on.

Crawford and four others escaped from the house.

Crawford moved his skidder to a neighbor’s property and when he returned he told survivors he was going to look for his missing dog.

His body was found in the rubble of the basement about 11:30 pm.

The dog’s body was not located.

The four others who escaped the fire are 26 year old Cassandra Morse, 19 year old Alex Chaffee, and Crawford’s two daughters– Lillian Crawford, 9, and Ella Crawford, 5.
