An Orono woman was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury for voting twice in last November’s election.
According to the Bangor Daily News, 34-year-old Manikomal Kehler, who was a student at the University of Maine, had voted by absentee ballot on October 30th in her hometown of Milford. Assistant Attorney General Leanne Robbin says Kehler then went to the polls in Orono on election day and voted with a group of friends.
Kehler reported on November 4th that she had voted twice.
She faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted.
Kehler is the second person from Orono to be charged with fraud in the November election. 19-year-old Alyssa Dau is accused of using a former roommate’s absentee ballot to vote.
