After ten days, the fire that’s been burning at an Orrington trash facility is now extinguished.

Fire investigators believe the blaze at Eagle Point Energy Center on Oct. 1st was caused by a lithium-ion battery left behind in the trash. The Maine DEP issued air quality alerts for surrounding areas, which have since been cancelled.

Orrington’s assistant fire chief says the building will be turned over to Eagle Point for further cleanup.
