Over 150 protestors gathered outside of Bowdoin College Saturday calling on Maine’s senators to demand a cease-fire in Gaza.
The protestors marched from the Bowdoin campus to Sen. Angus King’s home, carrying Palestinian flags and holding signs calling to end Israel’s military attacks.
According to the Portland Press Herald, The Bowdoin chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine organized the protest, with the goal of putting pressure on King and Sen. Susan Collins to oppose Israel’s attacks. Israel has that reportedly killed over 17,000 Palestinians in two months, many of whom were civilians.
Israel’s attacks have been carried out in retaliation against Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack that killed over 1,200 Israelis.
