Palmyra home destroyed by explosion and fire

PALYMRA, Maine (WGAN) The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire and explosion at a home in Palmyra.

Fire crews responded to the call at a home on Meadow Lane at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from Palmyra, Hartland, St. Albans, Canaan, Corinna, Detroit, Newport and Dexter responded.

The five people who were inside the house managed to escape, but two suffered burn injuries and one was hospitalized.

Public Safety Information Officer Shannon Moss says fire investigators returned to the scene on Wednesday.

The home was a total loss.
