PALMYRA, Maine (WGAN) A Palmyra man is accused of arson in connection with one of two fires that broke out on the same street on the same afternoon.

Shannon Moss with the Maine Department of Public Safety says 54-year-old Aaron Chadbourn is accused of starting a fire at a home on Main Street in Palmyra on Sunday, Jan. 16th. Two adults and three children who were inside managed to get out safely with no injuries.

Chadbourn was placed on house arrest, but faces an additional charge of violating bail conditions and was taken into custody on Wednesday. He was being held at a local hospital but it wasn’t immediately clear if he was injured in the fire.

The second fire is still under investigation. Moss said the couple living in that building were not home at the time.
