PORTLAND, Maine (AP) Maine ditched presidential caucuses in favor of primaries, but that doesn’t mean caucuses are dead.

Democrats gathered at more than 500 locations on Sunday, days after Joe Biden narrowly won the state’s Democratic primary, to organize at the local level.

The Maine GOP also held caucuses on Sunday. But many towns already held their caucuses because the GOP doesn’t require towns to hold them on the same day.

Parties used the caucuses to fill out their local committees, hear from candidates and elect delegates to the state conventions.
