An American Airlines flight out of Bangor had to make an emergency landing in Portland on Thursday morning due to a mechanical issue.

The Portland Jetport says passengers and crew aboard the flight, which was bound for Charlotte, North Carolina, got off the plane at the jetport around 9 a.m.

The jetport says no one was hurt, and the plane landed safely. According to media reports, the airline said the plane had a mechanical issue and the pilot landed out of an abundance of caution.

The plane has been temporarily taken out of service while the cause of the issue is looked into.
