Passengers evacuated after explosion in engine room of cruise ship docked in Portland


Fire officials say an explosion on a cruise ship docked at Ocean Gateway in Portland left one person hurt.

The explosion occured in the engine room of the Ocean Navigator cruise ship.

Fire Chief Keith Gautreu says the individual was brought to the hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time.

After the explosion, passengers were evacuated from the ship.

Gautreu says that 128 passengers and 82 crew members were on board.

The U.S. Coast Guard will investigate the explosion along with the ATF and other agencies.
