Pedestrian hit by train in Portland suffers serious injuries

One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a train in Portland on Thursday.

Portland Police say a pedestrian was struck by a train behind Gilman Electric Supply on Saint James Street around 1:30 p.m. The unidentified male victim was taken to Maine Medical Center.

Portland Police, Amtrak Railroad Police, and CSX Rail are investigating. So far, no charges have been filed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact police.
