Pedestrian injured after getting struck by vehicle in South Portland

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in South Portland early Thursday had to be hospitalized.

South Portland police responded to the scene of the crash on Cummings Road near the South Portland and Scarborough town lines around 6:15 a.m.

Police say the 33-year-old male victim was attempting to cross the street when he was hit. He was brought to Maine Medical Center where he underwent surgery for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.

No charges have been filed and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
