A fire in Van Buren over the weekend destroyed two buildings.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire broke out late Saturday night at 58 Main St., with the building’s owner and pets able to get out safely.

The fire spread to a second building at 56 Main St., which was also a total loss but was unoccupied.

The homeowner at 58 Main St. is being assisted by the Red Cross and was being treated for smoke inhalation, along with one firefighter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it’s believed to have involved a pellet stove.
