RUMFORD, Maine (AP) Fire officials in Maine say the victim of a fatal apartment fire in Rumford appears to have been a 73-year-old woman who lived in the building.

The fire swept through and destroyed a multifamily home on Monday night. The State Fire Marshal’s Office said Wednesday that fire investigators say a body found in the building was in the first-floor apartment of 73-year-old Jane Bubar, who remains unaccounted for.

The occupants of other apartments in the building escaped without injury.

The fire marshal’s office said work by the State Medical Examiner’s Office and State Police DNA Lab is still needed to determine a positive identification.
