Police arrest suspect accused in string of commercial burglaries in Portland

Police in Portland say a suspect accused of burglarizing downtown businesses in February has been taken into custody.

Police said 30-year-old Jesse Howard is suspected of burglarizing several businesses since February 18th. Howard was arrested by South Portland Police on Monday and taken to Cumberland County Jail.

Police said that Howard was in possession of various items from those burglaries, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, at the time of his arrest. He was charged with four counts of burglary, six counts of theft and two counts of criminal trespassing.

Further details, including which businesses Howard is accused of burglarizing, were not immediately available.
