Police arrested a man accused of robbing a bank in Portland on Wednesday.

A report of a bank robbery came in around 9:20 a.m. at the Skowhegan Savings Bank on Marginal Way. Police were told the suspect fled down Diamond Street and was later seen entering the Bayside Anchor Apartment Complex.

The suspect, 29-year-old Khalid Gurhan, was taken into custody about half an hour after the initial call. The money that was taken was recovered.

Gurhan was charged with robbery and violating conditions of release. He was also charged with criminal mischief after police say he threw an object through the window of a residence before the robbery.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police.
