Police arrest suspect in Scarborough killing and other attacks in Maine’s midcoast

Police have charged a Freeport man with the killing of an 82-year-old man in Scarborough on Sunday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Maine State Police announced that 22-year-old Quinton Hanna was arrested and charged with the killing of James Pearson on his Christmas tree farm on Sunday morning.

Hanna was also charged with attempted murder related to an attack in West Bath on Sunday. The Portland Press Herald reports Hanna faces several more charges for allegedly striking a woman with a vehicle, causing serious bodily injury, and sexually assaulting her. Court documents show Hanna was also charged with trying to take property from another woman while armed with a knife.

Hanna was brought to Two Bridges Regional Jail with bail set at $250,000 after being linked to the attack in West Bath. He appeared in court via video on Monday.
