Police arrest Westbrook man accused in stabbing

Police have arrested a suspect in a stabbing that happened Friday night in Westbrook.

Police say they responded to a report of a stabbing around 9 p.m. near Main Street and Vallee Square.

They found a 38-year-old victim who was in and out of consciousness by the time they arrived. He was taken to the hospital with a serious but non life-threatening stab wound.

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Jeffrey Young of Westbrook. He was found near Dunn Street later in the night and arrested without incident.

Police say the stabbing was not a random attack, and that the two men knew each other.

The incident is still under investigation.
