GORHAM, Maine (AP) The office of Maine’s attorney general says a 32-year-old man died in a shooting involving police.

The office on Saturday said Standish resident Kyle Needham died Friday evening in a shooting outside a Burger King restaurant in Gorham.

The office says officer Dean Hannon shot the man when Needham tried to escape from police in a truck.

Hannon has been placed on administrative leave while the attorney general’s office investigates whether the shooting was legally justified.

Malon tells the Portland Press Herald that Needham had used the truck to ram at least one police vehicle before he was killed.

Police had asked for help locating Needham last month after he led troopers on a high-speed chase through Hollis. Needham was wanted on warrants including eluding law enforcement.
