Police in Cumberland County say a single-vehicle crash sent one man to the hospital.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 10:40 p.m. Sunday on Bald Hill Road in New Gloucester. 50-year-old George Goodwin was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a left turn just prior to Range Road. Police say Goodwin’s vehicle struck a large rock embankment head on, causing it to roll over and come to a rest in the middle of the road.

Goodwin suffered chest injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.

The crash is still under investigation, and the sheriff’s office says charges will be forthcoming.
