Portland police are investigating two shootings that happened Sunday morning.

Police say the first shooting was reported in the Riverton Park housing complex just after 4 a.m. on Sunday. A resident called police to report someone firing shots into the front of his apartment, where four family members were sleeping at the time. No one was injured.

A witness said they saw a possible suspect fleeing the scene. They were described as a black male in his teens wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was seen fleeing towards the Wellesley Estates properties on Forest Avenue.

The second shooting was reported around 11:30 a.m. at High Street and Park Avenue. A resident said he heard arguing outside and saw a black man firing a handgun at the man he was arguing with. The bullet didn’t appear to hit the man and the two fled the scene. The suspect was wearing a dark colored shirt and jeans.

Police say the two shootings don’t appear to be related. Anyone with information about either incident is being asked to contact Portland police.
