Police in Portland say a medical marijuana delivery driver was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday night.

Portland Police say it happened just after 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Wellesley Estates on Forest Avenue. The driver told police the two suspects were black males armed with semi-automatic handguns, which they pointed at him while demanding money.

The driver says he was struck in the head with a gun when he told them he didn’t have any cash. The two searched the driver’s pockets, stealing a wallet and cash from previous deliveries, as well as a backpack containing marijuana and cannabis products.

Both suspects were seen fleeing on foot towards the Riverton Park housing complex.

Police say two similar incidents involving armed men robbing marijuana delivery drivers were reported in October. In all three cases, the suspects used phone apps to request the delivery using driver’s licenses or marijuana cards that were stolen.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
