Police are investigating a shooting outside a mosque on Bartlett Street in Lewiston Friday night.

A 19-year-old man received a gunshot wound in what police are calling non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say the man took himself to the hospital.

Police were called to the parking lot of the Masjidu Salaam mosque around 9:45 p.m. where a Ramadan service was being held inside. Officers say everyone inside the mosque fled before they arrived.

Lewiston police believe there were several shooters, but no one was in custody as of Saturday afternoon. Officials are reviewing surveillance footage and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the department.

The victim’s name was not released.
