Police investigate shooting in Portland Old Port that left two seriously injured

Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Portland overnight.

The department said two officers on foot patrol heard multiple gunshots just after 1 a.m. Monday.

They found the first victim, a 34-year-old man, with several gunshot wounds on Wharf Street near Union Street.

Officers found a second victim, a 22-year-old woman, at the corner of Fore Street and Union Street. She also had multiple gunshot wounds.

Portland police haven’t released any details about a possible suspect or motive.
