Police investigating after a deadly incident in Saco

SACO (WGME)— A man was found deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound right after his vehicle was stopped in Saco Friday night.

The Bridgton Police Department said around 8:15 pm Friday they received a disturbance call about a male that had pointed a gun at two people.

Even though the individual had left the scene prior to police showing up, they were able to identify the male as well as his car and provide information to Maine law enforcement.

A Saco Police officer that was on routine patrol saw the suspect coming into Saco but waited for backup due to the male being armed.

Officers then found the suspect had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Saco Police Detectives as well as the Maine State Police Major crimes Unit are investigating this case.

The male’s name will not be released until his next of kin is notified.

Authorities want to remind everyone that if you or someone you know needs help/ assistance to call the free confidential line to talk to Maine specialists and 211.
