Police say a young couple died in a murder-suicide in Minot.

Maine State Police say deputies responded to a welfare check around 6 a.m. Thursday at a residence on Millett Road, where they found the bodies of two people.

After being taken to the medical examiner’s office, they were identified as 19-year-old Emali Sallee of Lewiston and 20-year-old Tyson Peters of Minot.

Police said Sallee’s death was a homicide, and Peters died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said the deaths appear to be an isolated incident, and there’s no threat to the public.

The deaths are under investigation.
