Police Investigating Shots Fired in Ogunquit

Ogunquit Police and area law enforcement agencies are investigating a report of shots fired on the southern portion of Rt.1 They’re asking people to lock their doors and avoid the area.

Police say they received a report around 3:50 a.m. on Monday about shots fired at a large gathering at the Hideaway Inn on Main Street.

Officers are working to find out if there actually was a shooting or if there are any victims.

Police are interviewing witnesses and neighbors in the area and no arrests have been made. If anyone had any information, please call Wells dispatch at 207-646-9354.

Town Hall will remain closed for the day as it continues to be used by police and to support People displaced.
The on-scene investigation is ongoing and will proceed throughout the day. The police department will provide additional updates later today.
Ogunquit Police are thanking the assistance of York Maine Wells Police, York Police Department, Ogunquit Fire Department, Ogunquit Public Works, York County EMA, York County Maine Special Response Team, Maine State Police, and many other resources and personnel from the region.
They’re also thanking the public for their patience and understanding during the closures. Officers says there is no threat to the public and expect no further interruptions in town.
