Maine State Police say they’re investigating a chase and a fatal crash that both occurred on I-95 on Tuesday.

Just after 1 p.m., police say they pursued a vehicle on the Maine Turnpike southbound from Kennebunk through York. It ended when the suspect crashed in the center median around mile 4 near the border of York and Kittery.

Traffic was stopped there for part of the afternoon. Three officers suffered minor injuries, and the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being taken into custody. Charges are expected.

Police say another crash was reported around 2:11 p.m. near exit 3 in Kittery. A vehicle travelling north was struck from behind by a tractor trailer and pushed under another tractor trailer that was in front of it.

Around 6 p.m., police said I-95 northbound would be closed until further notice while they worked to contact next of kin, clear the scene, and reconstruct the accident.
