Police are trying to locate a woman accused of assaulting a child on a playground in Levant.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the alleged assault. They said it happened on Friday around 7:30 p.m. outside the Suzanne M. Smith Elementary School.

The sheriff’s office says an adult female got out of a white car and attacked one of three children who were playing on the playground. She then got back into the car.

Video from the elementary school was turned over to police which shows the white car stopped outside the school. They said an adult male was the driver.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who can identify the vehicle to give them a call.
