LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN) The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston Police have arrested a Lewiston woman on aggravated drug trafficking charges.

38-year-old Elizabeth Yvonne Young was arrested Tuesday night and charged with aggravated drug trafficking and importation for transporting prescription pills from an out-of-state source over the past year. MDEA agents searched Young’s car and apartment after a traffic stop on the turnpike in Lewiston Tuesday night.

The pills, primarily oxycodone, were being sold in Lewiston-Auburn.

Drug agents seized approximately 500 oxycodone pills from Young with a street value of $20,000. Agents and Lewiston Police also searched Young’s residence at 6 Perley St. They uncovered a handgun at the apartment. Young is prohibited from owning or possessing a gun based on a prior federal drug trafficking conviction in 2009.

She was arrested without incident and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail. She’s being held on $75,000 bail. She was expected to appear in court in Lewiston on Wednesday.
