Police look to identify bicyclist hit by vehicle in Scarborough


SCARBOROUGH, Maine (WGAN) Police say a woman riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Route 1 in Scarborough on Friday afternoon.

Police say it happened in front of On The Vine marketplace at 592 Route 1 around 3:15 P.M. Route 1 between Payne and Broadturn Roads was closed while police reconstructed the crash.

Police say they’re having trouble identifying the victim, a woman in her 50s, who was brought to the hospital with serious injuries. The woman is white, between 5′ 4″ and 5′ foot 6″, weighing 120-140 pounds with blue eyes and gray hair. She was riding a purple LL Bean bicycle with a white bell decorated with colorful stars.

She was wearing black with pink highlight Nike sneakers in size 9, dark navy sweatpants, orange tank top, a black Ralph Lauren jacket, a purple Columbia fleece
jacket, brown Ray-Ban sunglasses, and a black pink and white Bell bicycle helmet.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
