Police say an Orland man faces a number of charges after he wrecked his pickup, causing the death of his passenger.

Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash Tuesday afternoon on Cedar Swamp Road in Orland.

They say 48-year-old Robert Cunningham lost control of his 2007 Ford Ranger and struck an embankment.

Valerie Seavey, 50, of Orland was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Cunningham was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. Upon his release from the hospital, Cunningham was taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth.

He’s charged with manslaughter, aggravated OUI, aggravated driving to endanger and speeding 30 mph or more over the speed limit.
