A driver who led police on a chase that began in Windham was taken into custody after crashing their vehicle.

Windham Police say officers responded to a report of a speeding vehicle Sunday evening, which they say failed to stop for a sheriff’s deputy as it continued down Route 115.

A second attempt to stop the vehicle on Route 35 in Standish failed, before the driver crashed near the intersection of Chadbourne Road and White’s Bridge Road.

The driver, who was not injured, was taken into custody, with the case being referred to the Cumberland County District Attorney to review potential criminal charges.
