Maine State Police located a dog Saturday night that went missing after a recent crash in Ogunquit.

The dog, named Whiskey, was found after drivers on I-95 spotted the missing pet near mile marker 11 in York.

The drivers called police and trooper Matthew Williams responded and searched the area.

Williams tells our news partners CBS 13 that he found Whiskey at the bottom of an embankment just south of the Clay Hill Road overpass at mile 12.

Williams says he got lucky because he couldn’t see the dog in the dark.

He only spotted him because of the dog’s eye reflection.

He said Whiskey was very weak and could hardly walk.

He took the dog to his crusier and gave him food and water.

He says Whiskey is doing much better.

Meanwhile, a passenger in the vehicle that crashed continues to recover.

Police said that individual remains in serious condition.
