Police Safely Corral Horse Running on I-95 Near Burnham

Maine State Police with corralled horse on I-95

A horse is safe after state police say they corralled the creature, which was wandering on I-95 in Burnham overnight Wednesday morning.

Officers say they spotted the horse running with traffic in the breakdown lane before it crossed the median and ran southbound in the passing lane.

Police say they used a rope to secure the horse and tie it to the bumper of a cruiser.

They say the owner from Pittsfield quickly arrived and hauled off the horse in a trailer.

Officers say it appears the horse had wandered off during the night without the owner’s knowledge.
