Police Say A Woman Was Stabbed Monday In Portland [Updated]

A Portland man has been arrested after a stabbing Monday.

Portland Police said Richard McDowell, 39, was charged with aggravated assault for the stabbing of a 32-year-old woman.

Police the woman was stabbed in the hand near the Preble Street Soup Kitchen on Oxford Street.

Police said the stabbing took place during an altercation. Police said, stabbing was reported before 12:30 p.m. Monday, when police went to the scene after a report of people fighting.

McDowell was found hiding in a hallway at 259 Oxford St.
