Buxton police search for armed robber

BUXTON (WGME) — Police say a suspect is still at large after committing an armed robbery at a Buxton store on Saturday.

The robbery happened at Low’s Variety located on Main St. around 5:30 p.m. The male suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt, black gloves, black full-face mask, olive green pants, and brown hiking shoes.

He was last seen running towards the Salmon Falls area.

Police say the suspect entered the store and showed an employee what appeared to be a handgun wrapped in a plastic bag. The suspect then placed a black and red backpack on the counter and demanded cash while banging on a Plexiglas partition with the handgun and pointing it at the clerk, according to police.

Police say they found a black ski-mask and a realistic-looking airsoft gun in some bushes off Main St. that is believed to have been used during the robbery.
