Police Searching for Man that Disappeared along Kenduskeag Stream

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN)  A search is underway in Bangor after a man disappeared along the Kenduskeag Stream.

Police say they were called to Harlow Street around 1:10 a.m. Friday morning to investigate an altercation.  Police say one of the suspects, 22-year-old Peter Manuel, took off before speaking with police.

Police say the Bangor man jumped a fence near the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building and made his way down an embankment before crossing the Kenduskeag Stream.

Police then found Manuel and tried to offer him rescue lines, as he was stuck on a steep embankment.  Police say Manuel refused the help and jumped back into the stream.

Police say rescue swimmers were deployed and Manuel has not been found.

Police say the Maine Warden Service and Maine Marine Patrol have been notified and they are still investigating.
