Police Subdue Man Waving Gun in Farmington Walmart Parking Lot

Police say they were able to subdue an elderly man who was waving a gun in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Farmington on Thursday.

Officers say they placed the parking lot on lockdown after learning the man was also in and out of his car.

They say they approached the man, who reluctantly responded to commands.
Officers say he was detained, then placed in Protective Custody and taken to Maine Health Franklin Hospital for evaluation.

His identity was not immediately released.

Police say they located and secured the gun, and the parking lot was taken out of lockdown. No injuries were reported.

The incident took place just after 9:30 am Thursday.
