PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) The owner of a fine art gallery in Portland is trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Susan Roux of the Roux and Cyr International Fine Art Gallery has been turning a boarded-up window at her business into a public mural.

The windows at the art gallery were smashed recently during a protest.

Now, people walking through the Old Port are stopping to leave messages of hope on the mural. Roux, who spoke on the WGAN Morning News, says she was extremely upset when she first heard about the damage to her business.
