The Portland City Council inaugurated three new members on Monday.

Portland Mayor Kate Snyder and City Manager Jon Jennings joined city council members in an inauguration ceremony held via Zoom.

They welcomed April Fournier, who is the first indigenous person to serve on the council.

Also inaugurated was Andrew Zarro, who represents district 4. He’s a small business owner and the first openly gay councilor to serve in about three decades, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Mark Dion was also sworn in. He’s a lawyer and former state representative and senator.

Leaving the council are Jill Duson, who didn’t seek re-election, as well as Kim Cook and Justin Costa.
