Portland city worker hit and killed by trash truck

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) The city of Portland says a city maintenance worker was killed Sunday after getting struck by a trash truck.

A city spokeswoman says 46-year-old Martin Dinh was nearing the end of his shift Sunday morning at the Public Works facility on District Road, when he got out of the trash truck he was operating and was then hit by it. He was found by someone who came to the site to load materials around 1 p.m.

Police are working to reconstruct the scene to find out what caused the accident.

Dinh had been working for the city since last August.
