Portland Head Light Document Signed by Jefferson to be Sold

A historic letter which authorized money to pay for the Portland Head Light is going up for auction.

The letter was signed by Thomas Jefferson and dates back to 1790.

The Portland Press Herald reports the document is estimated to be worth upwards of $10,000.

Swann Auction Galleries is hosting the auction, which takes place this coming Thursday in New York City.
