PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) – Portland Police say a 15-year-old high school student is charged with terrorizing.

Around 7:45am on Thursday June 7th, administrators at Portland High School learned of a student threatening to bring a gun to school. He was removed from class around 8:00am.

A pellet gun designed to look like a real gun was found in the student’s backpack. Police say no direct threats were made to the school, students, or staff.

He was released to the custody of his parents, as the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office reviews the case for possible criminal charges.

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to call the Portland Police Department.
