Some students at Portland High School are asking the school district to hold off on plans to increase in-person learning at the end of the month.

Students wrote in a petition on change.org say the decision is “premature and unsafe.”

They cited rising coronavirus cases and the likelihood that many families will be increasing contacts over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Portland Press Herald writes that the petition comes a week after the district announced plans to increase in-person learning for 10th- through 12th-grade students starting Nov. 30.
