The Portland Jetport says it’s temporarily closing its primary runway starting next week.

The runway will be closed beginning Monday at 8am, which will impact air traffic over Portland, South Portland, Scarborough, and Westbrook. The runway will remain closed until June 13th.

The jetport says the closure is part of its master plan, which includes upgrading its primary runway lighting to LEDs and milling and overlaying the entire 7,200 foot long service.

Flights may experience significant delays or cancellations if the visibility minimums are too low for visual approaches because the jetport will not have access to its instrument landing system.
