Portland man arrested for selling fentanyl and cocaine, officials say

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) A Portland man is facing charges following the seizure of a “significant amount of illegal drugs,” law enforcement officials say.

In a press release Thursday morning, Public Information Officer Shannon Moss said that 27-year-old Charles Aboda was trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.

Aboda is charged with unlawful aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs and unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs.

Moss says DEA agents and officers from the Portland Police Dept. investigated Aboda’s drug activities for three months.

As part of the investigation, Moss says the suspect sold illegal drugs to undercover agents.

Aboda was arrested without incident in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

The release says that at the time of his arrest, agents seized approximately 3 ounces of fentanyl, and cocaine, as well as $1000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Following Abodas’ arrest, agents executed a search warrant at a home in Portland’s West End neighborhood.

Moss says the search resulted in the seizure of approximately 2 ounces of fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as a loaded handgun and approximately $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Aboda was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where bail was set at $15,000 cash.

The investigation is ongoing.

Additional charges will be considered by the State Attorney General’s Office.
