Portland police arrested several juveniles Friday evening in connection to a carjacking incident that occurred outside of a shopping plaza Thursday.

A 75-year-old man told police he was waiting for his wife in his car outside of the Northgate Shopping Plaza when a man got into the passenger seat and pointed a gun at him.

The victim got out of the driver’s seat and the thief drove away from the parking lot on Auburn Street at around 5 p.m.

In a Facebook post, police stated that they recovered the vehicle and seven juveniles have been detained in connection with the carjacking. Several were issued summons for unauthorized motor vehicle possession.

The police department expects more charges will be issued as the investigation continues.
