Portland Police Arrest Person Of Interest In Reported Indecent Exposure Incidents

Portland police have released the name of the person of interest in a series of indecent exposure incidents.

Tyler Malmstrom, 28, of Sebago was arrested after he was seen just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday on Forest Avenue, Lt. Robert Martin said in a press release Friday.

When he was spotted by police, he was operating a gray 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Officers had been looking for Malmstrom and his pickup truck in connection with an indecent exposure incident and a hit-and-run accident on Oct. 7.

He was charged with operating after suspension and theft by receiving stolen property. A probation hold was placed on Malmstrom due to the charges.

The license plate attached to his vehicle had been stolen from a similar vehicle in Standish, which resulted in the theft charge, the release said.

The Portland Police Department has been working with police at the University of Southern Maine and police in Sanford, Scarborough and Westbrook. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Maine probation officers also have been apart of the investigation.

The release said investigations into alleged incidents of indecent exposure in Portland, Gorham and Sanford are ongoing. Detectives will work with prosecutors from the District Attorney’s Office before any potential charges are filed in connection with those alleged crimes.
