A New York City man who was shot by a Portland police officer is facing charges, but the department is keeping details about the shooting under wraps for now.

The Portland Police Department says 42-year-old Edward Hyman was being questioned as part of an investigation when he was shot by an officer early on Saturday, October 9th. He remained in custody at Maine Medical Center while being treated for his injuries.

On Tuesday, he was charged with Criminal Threatening and Failure to Submit to Arrest or Detention and placed on personal recognizance bail from his hospital bed.

Police say they’re withholding further comment on the shooting since it remains an active investigation.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Portland police.
